From the desk of kramer70:

“So about 7 years in the making and I think it is finally complete. I present my custom diorama playset the cobra temple. This is a project that I started 7 years ago and actually thought I finished it then. However over time I have added much. It was fully equipped with over 20 rooms with working LED lights. To say I was never really pleased with the project would be a lie. At the time I thought it was great and assumed I had completed it. However not to long after that I realized there was so much more I wanted to do with it.

I then decided that it would undergo a massive reconstruction and addition. A upgrade had to be done. I then decided to add two extension wings along with a fully functional working custom 1 :18 train set. The train set Is a custom that I modified from a G scale big haulers train set. You can find more info and pics about it here. Now the Temple has everything from Throne room, barraks, armory, training facility, communications room, jail, nuclear reactor, dungeon, compound Z lab, toxo lab, dr. mindbender lab, Vault room, Commander office, Dining hall, Aircraft hanger, catacombs and Serpentor Temple, quarry with power plant, and a submarine bay that can store my custom Cobra Sea Serpent Sub. I also built on two towers that have a blacksmith armory along with a crystal ball wizard outlook. Everything has working doors and LED lights that run through the facility.”

From the desk of Jogunwarrior:

“The Battle Wagon is an awesome vehicle, and always seemed like one that could have easily had a driver included. I’ve recently started incorporating existing Joe’s that are not typically vehicle drivers such as Gung-Ho. He seemed like a perfect fit behind the controls of this monster.

I really enjoy how this custom came out. I liked using the Dr. Mindbender head on my Dino-Hunter Gung-Ho figure so I decided to use that again here. The grenades on the Monkeywrench torso are a nod to the original Gung-Ho figure which came with a small grenade launcher. I decided to paint a shirt on him so I didn’t have to mess with trying to give him a chest tattoo.”

“Now here is one that I have been wanting to make for a long time. once I saw that Marvel universe Drax figure I just knew I had to do it. Once in hand and parts ordered I modded the body to fit a joe joe t-bar. took the plastic one out and added the steel one. Im really happy with the way he came out. I wanted a more dark hardcore look verses the classic red and blue. hope you enjoy!”

G.I. Joe III Gets a Writer and the Movie Will Heavily Focus on…

Entertainment  Comments Off on G.I. Joe III Gets a Writer and the Movie Will Heavily Focus on…
Jul 012014

entertainment news

According to Variety Magazine, Paramount has hired a writer to take over the production set to begin early next year. The film will also focus heavily on the Rock who has just signed back up along with Adrianne Palicki.

From the Variety Website:

“With the next installment in the “G.I. Joe” series set to bow in 2016, Paramount has now found the scribe who will pen the third entry in the popular franchise.

Jonathan Lemkin is set to write “G.I. Joe 3.” This marks the second deal Lemkin has closed for the studio as he is also set to pen “The Longest Night” for the studio, based on the GQ article, with Frank Marshall on board to direct.

Most of the cast, including Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, are expected to return with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. It was initially thought that Jon Chu would return to direct, but as of now he’s not attached to the pic.

Plot details are vague right now but sources say this installment is expected to revolve around Johnson’s character Roadblock, who was introduced in the last installment and soon became a fan favorite.

The idea is to get the film into production by the second quarter of 2015 so that it can make the 2016 release date.

Paramount still views the franchise as a major priority after “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” brought in more than $370 million at the worldwide box office.

Lemkin has worked with di Bonaventura several times in the past. He previously adapted “Shooter,” starring Mark Wahlberg, and the two also worked together during di Bonaventura’s tenure at Warner Brothers, where Lemkin wrote “Devil’s Advocate” and “Lethal Weapon 4.”

From the desk of TheVP:

“Another WIP that’s been sitting on the shelf for a very long time… I never had a Rock Viper growing up so never had a strong desire to make one when I got into customizing, but when icecreamman and myself hosted the versus contest (told you he has been on the shelf a while) I thought I would make an entry for giggles. Lucky for you guys I’m slow to finish customs, b/c I’m pretty sure I would have won both first, second, and fourth place with my one entry. Kidding of course. But here is my take on him, also a little known fact… When the Rock Viper is off duty, you can watch him try out for American ninja warrior. He has trouble with the spinning log.”

2014 SDCC – G.I. Joe – Danger at the Docks Exclusive [UPDATE]

frontpage toy news

Toy News International has made the announcement below:

“During Toy Fair in February, it was announced that Hasbro would be releasing an exclusive SDCC version of the G.I.Joe 50th Anniversary “Danger At The Docks” set which is coming to Toys R’ Us and etailers later this year. The SDCC exclusive version will be packaged with a Cobra Night Raft like the regular version and come with a Vamp and Flint figure painted in vintage colors like we saw back in the 80’s (see below). Due to lack of news on the SDCC set since then, some speculated that it had been canceled but we have confirmation from Hasbro that in fact it is still coming as an SDCC exclusive next month. Stay-tuned for an official announcement and new images.”

And to clear up whether or not this EXCLUSIVE set will be released at Toys R Us, listen to General_Hawk from yojoe.com:

“Hasbro’s Public Relations firm has made available the high resolution press photos for the ComicCon 2014 “Danger at the Docks” set. This set begins as an SDCC Exclusive, but then should be available at Toys “R” Us following the debut in San Diego.

I know there has been some confusion about the availability of this set, but as first reported right here on YoJoe, the intention is for this set to be available at Toys “R” Us following its release at SDCC. You can find some images below, including a great shot of some brand new accessories built just for this set!”

Transformers Collectors Club Announces: SerpentOR

frontpage toy news

I just saw that General_Hawk over at yojoe.com posted some interesting news regarding the Transformers Collectors Club crossing over into G.I. Joe territory. Rather than recap, here are the good general’s own words…

“If there are any G.I. Joe fans following Botcon, you no doubt caught the news of the Transformers Collectors Club revealed their line up for their third Transformers Figure Subscription Service.

Nestled within some other familiar characters was none other than Serpent O.R., a character pulled from the Devis’ Due G.I. Joe Vs. Transformers “The Art of War” series! The Serpent O.rganic R.obot is obviously an homage to the classic Serpentor character from the G.I. Joe mythos.

Images from the slideshow have been posted on TFW2005.com and the resemblance to everyone’s favorite Cobra Emperor is immediately evident in the color scheme. Check out the mirrored image below. Pretty cool homage, I have to say!

Make sure you keep your eyes on the exciting Shout! Factory Streaming Event live from Botcon, and all of the Botcon coverage from Figures.com!”
