“As you may have read – I have been commissioned to paint some vinyl figures of Patriot-1 for the successful Kickstarter campaign to get the trade paper back published. I thought I would go ahead and make a Joe version as well…”
From the heart-warming workshop of Slaymaker:
“I wanted to take a minute to post the major project I have been working on the last few months…my brother-in-law recently retired from the USMC after 30 years of service. My family and I drove to North Carolina to be there for the ceremony where he passed his Sgt Major sword on to the next Sgt Major and then retired from Corps. As a gift to him I made a 3-pack of figures commemorating his time serving our country. I also made a picture book showing progress of the project and a shadow box to display them in.”

“OK – not sure if or when the boys will make their own accounts so thought I would at least make them their own thread. 
My boys are named Luke (will be 12 in March) and Mason (turned 9 in August). Yes Star Wars influenced their names – Luke Skywalker and Mace Windu…
Anyway – they love Joe, Star Wars (less and less it seems), HALO (is huge currently) and Zelda…Luke loves to draw, Mason loves to make dio stories using my camera. (unfortunately not all the pics come out clear as he does a great job with posing and telling a story without words).”

“Officer member Slaymaker attended Coil Con III this Saturday and has graciously provided us with Intel. Slaymaker and his family made the trip from Iowa to attend the convention driving over 7 hours avoiding unusual traffic for the Iowa area including President Obama himself!  Slaymaker had the chance to meet comic artist Robert Atkins,  watch the world premiere of episode 1 of the anticipated G.I.Joe fan film G.I. Joe: Initiate, and spend quality time with fellow collectors.
For those that aren’t familiar with Coil Con,  here is a description of the Convention:
The CoilCon is the Midwest’s largest GI Joe convention. Now in its third year, the Con continues to grow in attendance and in the number of special guests and vendors. The past years’ conventions have been a great mix of hanging out with the community, CoilCon Exclusives, swap meets, great vendors, Joe Con and SDCC Exclusive giveaways, and much more. Come out and be a part of this year’s event. Admission is FREE!”
