From the desk of TheVP:

“Another WIP that’s been sitting on the shelf for a very long time… I never had a Rock Viper growing up so never had a strong desire to make one when I got into customizing, but when icecreamman and myself hosted the versus contest (told you he has been on the shelf a while) I thought I would make an entry for giggles. Lucky for you guys I’m slow to finish customs, b/c I’m pretty sure I would have won both first, second, and fourth place with my one entry. Kidding of course. But here is my take on him, also a little known fact… When the Rock Viper is off duty, you can watch him try out for American ninja warrior. He has trouble with the spinning log.”

From the desk of ska_lives:

“Recently I was sitting around rummaging through my fodder when an old WIP (work in progress) and a spare figure gave me an idea for an updated Night Creeper. Ive wanted to do this figure for a good while, all thanks to Boris Ping’s beautiful custom earlier this year or late last year.

I tried a few new things with this figure, in that I scratch built the web gear to make it a bit more sensible… in my eyes anyway. I then proceeded to string the crossbow and make a custom sling for it. I am most pleased with how that sling turned out.”

From the desk of icecreamman:

“This is my second take on Marvel comics’ Spirit of Vengeance. I used a 25th Crimson Guard as base figure for my first version of Ghost Rider. I just wanted to give my Ghost Rider a more “biker”/leather-clad look than a black Crimson Guard-ish look. I initially wanted to use a Retaliation Firefly, the one with the collar. But the collar seems kind of big for Ghost Rider. I thought ROC Thuderblast’s torso with a smaller collar would look better. Hope you like it! “

From the workshop of ska_lives:

“So a while back I made my first Fem-Viper, and shortly afterwards I scored a custom sculpt body and female viper heads. Thus I created this beauty. It took me forever to get this custom finished due to a combination of procrastination and having to sculpt up the lower torso to fill the gap between the two halves (torso stem was too long). Anywho, I hope you guys dig it, and as always commentary and crits are accepted!”

From the desk of Dark Perceptor:

“Here’s my latest addition to my Jungle Operations customs (all of two now, lol)… Leatherneck! Another older WIP, he started as a Major Barrage custom but the plans got scrapped when I got a fresh infusion of o-ring fodder, and Leatherneck was born. This custom also marks a bit of a milestone for me, as I previously had yet to attempt painting camo patterns. All in all, I am fairly happy with how he turned out, though I am already toying with a couple ideas to improve the figure… Thanks for looking, and as usual, your comments are welcomed. “

March – Featured Syndicate Customizer (Part 2): Tim 121RVC

News  Comments Off on March – Featured Syndicate Customizer (Part 2): Tim 121RVC
Mar 212014

frontpage spotlight

From the desk of Dark Perceptor:

“Here we go, with the second half of March’s Featured Customizer… another genius o-ring customizer (here at the Syndicate, we like to hoard them): Tim 121 RVC!

First name: Read Inside…

Age: Read Inside…

Where you live: Read Inside…

1) What made you want to start customizing?

One of the first times I was on the net I started to search for G.I.Joe, because that was the only way to complete my ARAH collection. Somehow a came across Joecustoms and I was in shock. I never took a figure apart before, and these guys did do that AND they painted them. Crazy, but very intriguing as well because it widened my G.I.Joe horizon. Started with LBC-ing at first, but it didn’t take long before I got my hands on some paint and a few brushes.

2) Which custom of yours is your pride and joy?

Every custom has a little feature/story/new technique that I like, so I find it hard to pick just one. That would feel like I’m failing all the other ones and all the work I put into them. But to name a few:
Il Nero for the suitcase, Range Viper for the camo scheme, He-man for childhood memories, Shaka Zulu for the use of Max’s head, Gikan for the custom naginata, Rattle B.A.T. because LBC’s are easy and fun, Rudarius because I’m interested in history.”

“Here’s General Hawk… This custom was not an easy one. I couldn’t decide what look to give him. I finally decided to go with the v2, General Hawk. For me, Hawk was more blond than brownish and I think that this head fits more than Duke.”

CUSTOMS: PoC Jungle Assault Blowtorch (by Letal)

Letal may not be overly enthusiastic about his vision of the concept PoC Blowtorch, but I think that it looks fantastic, and is definitely front page material!

From the workshop of Letal:

“Nothing really new here … Based on the concept Blowtorch image, that then was customized by Cdt Weasel, that then should have been a variant for PoC Jungle Assault Blowtorch. It’s not an exact copy, I think mine ended up a little more green, some different detail here and there and different feet and added kneepads. One of the things I didn’t like much in the original 25th Blowtorch were the small feet…  Anyway I like to keep track of my customs so I am posting it.”

“This is number 2 in my MGS3 series; boss character, The Sorrow. This was a fun figure to make, and an interesting character in that he was never alive in the game. The red streak down his face is the bloody tears from the wound given to him by his lover when she shot him.”

The names under parenthesis are the Brazilian release code names. Here the Battle Force (Força 2000) had the Iron Grenadiers (Força Destro) as enemies, both groups represented subdivisions for Gi-Joe and Cobra using the most advanced technology.”
