Custom Legends are back, baby! That’s right, your favorite quarterly Customs Contests have returned after a brief hiatus due to the untimely retiring of this contest’s founder, the unholy Byrnes. Now, ozzie92 has taken the reigns and dedicated the theme of this quarter’s contest, The Masters of Mayhem, to the big man himself!
Based on “About Byrnes” from his profile:
“I enjoy customizing figures from the Sci-Fi world such as Buck Rogers, Star Trek, Star Wars, Bladerunner, Mad Max and so on. Not really a GI Joe expert. Was into the toys when I was a kid in 82 and 83. Got hooked again on the 25th stuff.”
3rd Quarter’s Master of Mayhem contest will be calling for crossovers of Joes into alternate–but established–sci-fi universes and/or alternate–but established–sci-fi characters merging into Joe sub-groups (ex: BATS in Battlestar Galactica…Buck Rogers in Star Brigade).

Oh yes… it’s happening again… BrokeCon is an event that will begin tomorrow (Friday, April 11) running through Sunday, April 13th.
BrokeCon is for those of us poor shlubs that could not go to JoeCon… for whatever reason, we couldn’t make it to the beautiful (ahem) state of Texas for this years show. Throughout the show days, the participating donors will list FREE items up for grabs (no purchase necessary).

The battle takes place on a neutral planetoid far outside the solar system of the Earth, and the combatants know not what is in store. They are only told that the winner shall be showered with untold riches and accolades, and if they so wish it be transported back to their planet.”

“Well, so it’s been a while since I’ve given some stuff away, so let’s get to it!
Winner of this drawing will receive a grab bag style mix of Hot Wheels! I’ve dug out some of those popular castings from the past year or two that were a headache to find, and tossed em in this lot. Also a few matchbox cars for good measure.
So what so you have to do to be eligible? Easy, be a member here, and post in this thread what your favorite casting has been in recent years. Talk about which ones you’ve had trouble finding, which ones you’d like to see Mattel do in the future, etc. All things hot wheels or matchbox are fair game.

Customize two archenemies and post 3 pictures of them in this thread with a plainish background. Any genre will work as long as they hate each other.
Customs must be a new custom never have being displayed before.
There is no scale limitations…4in, 6 in ,12in, whatever rocks your boat.
Contest 2: The one shot picture contest
We have some sick talent when it comes to photography and editing skills on this site and this is your chance to showcase them
Same as before the subjects have to be arch enemies, any scale, any figure (retail, old customs, new customs, whatever)
The purpose of this contest is the picture. Give it a dio backdrop, photoshop it, do whatever you want just make it look good!

So it’s been a while since I’ve done a contest, so I decided to get off my ass and make it happen! One of my favorite years in the ARAH line was 1989. There were some great figures released that year… but the most kickass stuff in the line was the new vipers. I’m of course talking about Alley Viper, Night Viper, Frag Viper, and Heat Viper. These 4, I remember thinking, are the baddest ass cobra figures I’d ever laid my 8 year old eyes upon. To this day, hasbro has never designed a viper that I thought looked as cool as these.
So what’s this contest about? Well, simply to discuss 1989. What were your favorites? Which ones do you want to see modernized? Discuss it [HERE]. That’s all you have to do to be eligible. The contest will end next Wednesday, Sepember 25th. All members are eligible. Once the contest ends, I will put all names in a hat, and draw the winner. Prize will ship within a week of the drawing. But what’s the prize you ask? Well, it’s these two guys. Both these members of the class of ’89 were only recently brought into the modern era, one by our friends at the club, and the other by hasbro after a long nap in the concept vault. Here they are:
