Looks like we are going to see some new Joes and Cobras at JoeCon this year!

Just announced on Hasbro’s Pulse;

Fans Challenged With Hintless Crossword Puzzle

Hasbro is gearing up for the 2016 G.I. Joe series, and Hasbro Pulse is excited to host an intriguing peek at the first brand-endorsed look at the entire line. 2016 will kick off with an exclusive set (available at San Diego Comic Con) and then a series available exclusively at Toys R Us and Entertainment Earth. The eighteen figures slated for 2016 are all arranged in the crossword puzzle below, including the Kindle Worlds Fan Choice figure Stiletto – the only character previously announced in this year’s lineup. The rest of the puzzle is up to the fans to fill in, and NONE of the names have been given any clues or hints.

We realize that offering up a crossword puzzle with zero name hints is pretty rough, but we’re certain that even obscure hints would get sniffed out quickly by our diehard Joe collectors. Instead, fans have a chance to collaborate and discuss before the correct puzzle is revealed this year at the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention in Loveland, Colorado. Come to the Hasbro Brand Panel on Saturday, June 18th to see the puzzle revealed and also get your first peek at the G.I. Joe prototype figures for 2016!

Thanks to OG13 member Ooyah for the heads up! Larry Hama will be attending the Action Figure Expo next weekend in Toronto.

2014 Guest Information

larry-hamaLARRY HAMA
Larry Hama is best known to fans as writer of the Marvel Comics licensed series G.I. Joe, based on the Hasbro line of military action figures. Hama said in a 2006 interview that he was given the job by then editor-in-chief Jim Shooter after every other writer at Marvel had turned it down. Hama at the time had recently pitched a Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series, Fury Force, about a special mission force. Hama used this concept as the back-story for G.I. Joe. He included military terms and strategies, Eastern philosophy, martial arts and historical references from his own background. The comic ran 155 issues (February 1982-October 1994).

Hama also wrote the majority of the G.I. Joe action figures’ file cards—short biographical sketches designed to be clipped from the G.I. Joe and Cobra cardboard packaging.[9] In 2007 these filecards were reprinted in the retro packaging for the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero 25th Anniversary line.

At the 11th Annual Action Figure Expo Mr. Hama will be signing and meeting with the attendees as day long.

Good day and welcome everyone!
We are proud and honored to share with you our concept creations, our fan boy visions of “new character additions” (and vehicles too) to the G.I. Joe universe. With this project, we focused on the good guys, the new recruits of G.I. Joe Reloaded Program.
In doing this project, there were many sleepless nights. We even worked on our customs in between real life work, and some of us wrote the bios while in the bathroom just to meet the deadline! We gave plenty of time and effort to this project. We had fun and it was all worth it. The friendship that has been forged among our fellow artists is priceless. Now we hope you enjoy as we finally give you…

Let’s start off DAY 1 with a BANG. Here is one of the industry’s top customizer, MSWI! With his creations, Lockdown and War Eagle!

Street/Sewer Dio by Cobra Oner

So I had this idea for a diorama that my Joes and Cobras could be photographed in/on, but the only skills I possess when it comes to building is Popsicle sticks. Luckily that is where CobraOner came in with his incredible talent and artistic ability and created a masterpiece. I came up with a sketch I had in mind of a shoebox size diorama where the street is the top of the box and the bottom part is a sewer.  CobraOner was able to take my idea and make it into what you see in front of you. I can’t wait to get this piece in my basement and start setting up some scenes for all of you. Thank you again to CobraOner for turning my simple sketch into a diorama for the ages! -Lowlight27

Eagle Force Returns in 2015

frontpage toy news

For those of you that remember Eagle Force from the early 80’s; well they are coming back in 2015 and according to Generalsjoes.com, “modern era G.I. Joe fans should be very pleased by the outcome!”

If you are not familar with these figures, well they were these Mask size toys that were metallic and individual characters for people to collect.

Eagle Force was created by the US Goverment to tackle R.I.O.T ( Roving International Organization of Tyranny). a terrorist organization that was driven by world domination. Eagle Force was assembled from the finest of the US armed forces. Led by Captain Eagle, the eye patched Eagle commanded a group of military experts with codenames such as Big Bro’, Harley, Turk and The Cat. R.I.O.T was lead by the evil General Mamba and his henchmen Savitar the Ninja and the evil Arsonist Beta Man. Like G.I. Joe, Eagle Force used comic book adventures to market the line, beautfully illustrated, the Eagle Force line was created by Paul Kirchner a known Heavy Metal contributor. The then 29 year old Kirchner beautifully fleshed out the characters originally envisioned by Mego VP Bill Baron as being the “Screaming Eagles”. http://www.megomuseum.com/misc/eagleforce.shtml

For updates keep your eyes peeled to the Eagle Force Returns Facebook page and get ready for some awesome news!

That’s right, one of the most talented casters out there has invited the members of OG13 to visit his store,  http://vortiouscustomaccessories.ecrater.com/

One thing that sets Vortious apart from the other casters is that, ” I’ve mastered the hidden peg technique, so with the exception of a couple of items (usually too large to be done effectively, or efficiently) the hinge jointed parts you order from my store don’t need to have pegs pushed into a hole, and come assembled (the hinge joint only). Also I’m the guy who bought the parts that Stocos had, so any of the items that disappeared when Stocos shut down you’ll find in my store. ”

So join us in welcoming Vortious to our family and place an order today!

[CUSTOMS] Objective: Hell Destro (by Jogunwarrior)

Customs  Comments Off on [CUSTOMS] Objective: Hell Destro (by Jogunwarrior)

From the desk of Jogunwarrior:

“Preceding my Mega Marine Initiative, Objective: Hell features a group of Joe’s teaming up with the Iron Grenadiers, and two new mysterious Cobra operatives after the discovery of a subterranean portal to another dimension. Objective: Hell as a concept is loosely based on the Team Seven comic which was penned by Chuck Dixon. I chose the name Objective: Hell because of the concept and in honor of Dixon.

Learning of the discovery of the portal to “hell”, Destro and Scrap Iron have converged on the entrance to the underground portal at the same time as the Joe’s. Instead of battling one another, the Iron Grenadiers volunteer to assist the Joe’s in their quest to defeat the invading force. To what end Destro is seeking is a mystery to all but him.

I wanted to put together a combat ready Destro with thick armor and a big gun, inspired by one modern era releases. I’ve always been a big fan of the IG Destro head as it is actually looks like a helmet and not a painted head. Plus I’ve always been a big fan of the IG colors.
There were two things I wanted to do with this custom but did not have a chance to: I wanted to give him wrist mounted rockets, and I wanted to paint the eyes. This will just require me to eventually put together another Destro custom at some point in the future.”
